WHAT IS PLASMA CUTTING?

Plasma Cutting is a process that cuts through electrically conductive materials. Electrically conductive materials include metals like steel, aluminium, brass, titanium and copper. An accelerated jet of hot plasma cuts through the metals.

Plasma Cutting can either be done by hand or more industrial applications like CNC Plasma Cutting. You can do it by hand using a plasma torch which can come in different types to suit the thickness of the metal. To cut on bigger sheets of metal, you use CNC Plasma Cutting cuts from digital files.

HOW IT WORKS

Although plasma can be dangerous to handle, it is safer than using a saw when cutting metals. Plasma is the fourth state of matter when an electric arc passes through gas like nitrogen or oxygen. Then the plasma is forced through a small nozzle super fast from the jet to cut through the conductive metal. Plasma Cutting is favoured and used by many metalworkers as it’s super precise and safe.
